- Hi! My name is Jan Yarbrough. My cousin, Roger McDonough, at 86 years old, is a retired clergyman. Last month, he was the victim of a very sophisticated scam perpetrated by individuals impersonating the federal government and the local police department, threatening his arrest if he failed to cooperate. His entire life savings were taken by these individuals ($46,000). When he realized he was the victim of this fraud, he contacted the local police department, who opened an investigation but told him there was little to no chance of recovery. They also reiterated that the police department had never contacted him even though their (the police department’s) phone number appeared on his phone as an incoming call from them.
