Help Support Roger Davis’ Lung Transplant Journey
Our family wanted to share an important update and humbly ask for your love, prayers, and support for Roger Davis — an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
In March of this year, Roger was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) — a progressive lung disease that causes scarring of the lungs. This diagnosis came after months of ongoing respiratory issues, countless doctor visits, and several misdiagnoses.
While the cause of his interstitial lung disease remains unknown, having a diagnosis has allowed Roger and Donnis to assemble an incredible care team and begin treatment. Roger was referred to Duke Medical, where specialists recommended that he relocate to Durham to begin the journey that will, hopefully, lead to a double lung transplant.
With a plan in place, Roger and Donnis have now temporarily relocated to Durham, North Carolina, where he has begun his transplant journey at Duke Medical. Earlier this month, Roger started a demanding pre-transplant rehab program, working toward specific benchmarks needed to officially be added to the lung transplant list. Once he’s listed, we’ll be praying for two strong, healthy lungs and a smooth, successful transplant.
As you can imagine, this journey comes with many emotional and financial challenges. Roger and Donnis will need to stay in Durham for an extended period — both before and after surgery — for medical care, recovery, and rehab. This means months away from home, along with ongoing housing, travel, and medical expenses.
We’re creating this fundraiser to help relieve some of that financial burden so they can focus on what truly matters: Roger’s healing and recovery.
Roger is a man of quiet strength and unwavering faith. He’s worked hard his whole life, and now it’s our turn to help support him. Every prayer, donation, and kind word means more than we can express.
Even though this road feels uncertain, we have faith it will lead to renewed health and many more years together. We’re incredibly grateful for modern medicine, the compassionate care at Duke, and the outpouring of love that continues to surround our family.
Thank you for lifting Roger, Donnis, and our family up in your thoughts and prayers — and for helping ease this part of his journey. We’ll continue to share updates along the way.
With love and gratitude,
Mischia, Greg, Jenny, Jacob, Hal, Katie, and our entire family
