Three years ago, Rodney To suffered a catastrophic brain injury. Doctors weren't sure he would ever regain consciousness.
He proved them wrong.
Through sheer will, the care of extraordinary medical teams at Providence Hospital in Burbank, NeuroRestorative in Griffith and Northridge, and the Center for Neuro Skills in Bakersfield, as well as the constant, unwavering love of his husband Jimmy and this incredible community — Rodney has fought his way back.
Now, after three years, Jimmy can finally bring Rodney home.
Here's what "coming home" actually requires:
A wheelchair-accessible vehicle (~$35,000)
Full apartment retrofitting for Rodney's needs (~$40,000)
Ongoing therapies no longer covered by insurance (~$175,000/year)
Rodney's insurance helped carry the early years. Leaving the facility and coming home means additional therapies become out-of-pocket expenses for Rodney and Jimmy. The total need is $250,000; we've set an immediate goal of $60,000 to cover the vehicle and apartment modifications so Rodney can come home and continue his recovery.
If you've ever loved Rodney, cheered for him, or are moved by his story, this is the moment. A donation of any size gets him home. And if you can't give today, sharing this page with one person who knew him is just as powerful.
Rodney has never stopped fighting. We're asking you not to stop either.
