Support Rodney Harris's Long Road to Recovery

Donation protected
Hello. My name is Lauren Cotton. I’m the daughter/step-daughter of Lana & Rodney Harris. Earlier this week, on February 25, 2025, my stepfather Rodney took a bad fall and suffered a severe break to his leg. The doctors have confirmed it’s a tibia & fibia break. Unfortunately, one of the worst they’ve ever seen. After being rushed to the ER, and eventually being admitted as a trauma patient at UAB hospital, late that night he underwent emergency surgery to relieve pressure within the break, within his leg. The pressure was so bad it was cutting off circulation & causing his BP to drop. His first of many surgeries consisted of an incision in his leg roughly 8 inches long & a tub inserted to drain off the blood & relieve the pressure. Tomorrow, February 27, 2025, he will undergo a second surgery. During that time, they will be going in to clean the inside of his leg out. Eventually, there will a third surgery and maybe more. Right now, we don’t know of when that will be or what that looks like at this time. What we do know is, this is going to be a long road to recovery & that’s where you all come in. This is where we are asking for your help. First, and foremost, we ask for prayers. Prayers for peace, prayers to keep my stepfather as comfortable as possible & just to give him the strength to get through this. Prayers for my mom. She is a strong woman. But, boy! Even the strongest need prayers. Pray for her strength in order to help my stepfather through this long road to recovery. Pray for her to get good rest so, she can have a clear mind. And lastly, I would like to ask for your donation. Nothing is too big or too small. But, soon medical bills will come after this hospital stay, after the surgeries, to begin rehab, etc. Currently, my mom is staying around the clock by his side with little to no breaks (she’s a bit stubborn). But, with this, there are meals, gas, parking, etc. My parents are both on SS disability and have a VERY fixed/limited income. So, I ask you to give what you can as anything is appreciated. Whatever you can offer, just know this, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you. Thank you for your prayers & thank you for your donation. God bless you all.
