Cop Murders Service Dog After Family Lost Everything To Fire
Donation protected

In the early morning of August 15, 2024 around 5:40am my parents Rodney and Michelle Pylant’s home was completely engulfed in flames. Their home was a deemed a total loss. They lost everything including many sentimental items that cannot be replaced. As if the loss of their home wasn’t enough their beloved dog Bella was shot and killed by first responders claiming she was “being too aggressive”. Bella was guilty of being a pitbull and being scared, nothing more. Many don’t know but she was also a service animal for my dad. She was the sweetest girl and became family to everyone that met her. She even used the doggie door at the neighbors house when she wanted to visit, they were always so happy to see her. The news article as well as the first responders have said that the entire home was completely engulfed in flames by the time they arrived, why did Bella have to die, what was the rush, they live in the country, the neighbors house was not in danger of the fire, why couldn’t they wait for Animal Control to arrive in order to secure her safely as to not cause more loss? It’s simple they didn’t care, they had many non lethal ways to get Bella away at their disposal, the high powered hoses, pepper spray… why did she have to be shot? That should have been the last resort not the first. Dogs are praised for protecting their families during home evasions but when they may be protective towards a first responder they are deemed aggressive. How was Bella to know these people in these suits from head to toe were not intruders? Bella was failed, my family was failed. Yes the fire was put out but the house was a total loss regardless, Bella could have been saved. Her and Athena broke themselves out of the house when it caught fire only for Bella to be killed anyways. To make matters worse the heavy duty fire hoses were then drug over the top of sweet Bella’s body as if she was nothing. My dad buried Bella in her favorite poop spot and feet up because that’s how she loved to lay in the sun. We are not anti law enforcement, we are not anti first responders, we are simply asking for answers as to why this situation was handled this way? We are seeking answers, justice and consequences for the life of Bella that was taken when it didn’t have to be. We are asking that the ones who made the wrong calls own up to it instead of making up lies and hiding the truth to cover their butts. Maybe if there are consequences for reckless actions of first responders and police officers etc there will be less human and animal life’s lost. Maybe if there is consequences there will be extensive training for our first responders and law enforcement so that things like this don’t happen. We are grateful that my parents were not home at the time and one of the two dogs did survive. We know we are lucky to still have each other. But in the wake of this great loss if you are able to help in any way we would be so grateful. We are seeking justice for Bella and every other life that has been taken unnecessarily. While trying to get answers my parents are homeless and are in need of anything and everything. We will not stop until something changes. Please consider donating towards our efforts. Thank you!
