Hello Everyone,
On Friday, November 8th, around 11 pm, my brother, Roderick Jackson, was leaving his place of employment via his bicycle when he was struck by a vehicle at a high rate of speed, sending him 80+ ft from where his bicycle was found, ultimately leaving him in a ditch and unresponsive. Due to no streetlights or sidewalk on 12th St NW, his route to and from work every day was a dangerous one... this has been a nightmare come true. Roderick is currently in the Intensive Care Unit in a medically induced coma. From this accident, Roderick sustained 2 brain bleeds as well as a diffuse axonal brain injury. He also has 11 broken ribs, a broken clavicle, a broken ankle, and a collapsed lung resulting in respiratory failure, so he is also on a respirator/ventilator, not to mention the multiple bruises and contusions covering his entire body. As of today, we were informed he is also battling pneumonia. His road to recovery is going to be a tedious and lengthy one.
