My name is Jennifer Zeck and sadly I am raising funds again my father, Rod Zeck. Several health challenges have impacted my dad’s life over the last few years and it has taken an emotional and financial tole on him and our family.

In March, my dad was not feeling himself and drove to the Emergency Department at University Hospital. He was triaged quickly because of his cancers and a CT scan was completed. The scan revealed severe diverticulosis and a perforated colon. His colon was leaking into his abdomen, essentially poisoning his body.

He was sent home after a lengthy stay and was assigned a home health nurse to visit and change the intravenous antibiotics he was receiving around the clock.

My dad continued his antibiotics in order to help the diverticulosis and perforation heal. Unfortunately, this was not enough as things had progressed past that point.

My father met with a surgeon at University Hospital who recommend removing the bad colon along with the perforation (about a one-foot section) and reattaching via laparoscopic surgery. My father consulted with other practitioners, who all agreed to move forward with this process.

His surgery was performed April 13, 2026 at 7:30 AM. Sadly, things did not go as planned. The laparoscopic method did not work, so a very large abdominal cut had to be made.

He was in surgery for about 4 hours and came out happy and in good spirits that recovery could I’m finally begin.

Two days later, things started to feel off again. A repeat of the CT scan showed that several sutures didn’t hold and there was a second perforation.

My father was wheeled into emergency surgery for another 3 hours. The outcome from the second surgery was far more favorable, but to give his colon time to rest a temporary colostomy bag was placed for 3-6 months. This will drastically change my father’s life for the foreseeable months.

He will be in the hospital for at least another week and hospital bill are already mounting. Not to mention the bills he accrues monthly for his cancer treatments.

This money will be used to pay University Hospital, acquire any necessary medical equipment, and help my dad recover stress free.
