Support Rod Beazley's Kidney Transplant Recovery

Dear Friends, Family, and Compassionate Supporters.
My name is Emily Beazley and I am speaking on behalf of my dad, Rod.
Throughout my whole life, my dad has been battling late-stage chronic kidney disease without a known etiology. Sadly, in September of 2024, my dad’s health took a dramatic turn for the worse and he was declared to be in kidney failure. Upon this diagnosis, he was put on emergency dialysis which required him to have eight hours of dialysis throughout each night. Of course, with my dad being dedicated to his work and family this was a hard and new adjustment to his normal lifestyle.
After extensive evaluation and traveling back and forth from the UK, I was honored to have been a match for my father. However, in recent days we have been informed that my dad has a rare X-linked disease and I was no longer eligible to be his donor.
Without a living donor, my dad could have been waiting on the transplant list for around 5-6 years- but that has come to an end! A few days ago, my dad received a life-changing phone call that he would be receiving a kidney from a deceased donor. He is currently in recovery at the hospital. The next year is crucial to ensure that there is no rejection with his donated kidney.
Although this is an incredible gift for my dad, it also comes with an extreme financial burden to our family. Your donation will go to support my dad’s recovery as he is expected to stay in the hospital post-transplant for a week and have weekly labs and appointments for the next two years. Our family will have to take time off to support my dad which leads to financial losses for them as well. I have created this GoFundMe page to raise funds that help my parents cover the cost of the transplant and allow them to have a less stressful recovery process.
Of course, with the Beazley family, there is also a competitive side to everything. In my dad’s honour, I will be running the Edinburgh Half Marathon in May to raise money and awareness for those battling chronic kidney disease.
We would gratefully appreciate your help and support for Rod Beazley as he continues his recovery from a lifesaving kidney transplant. We appreciate you taking the time to read about my dad’s story. We understand that times are tough for many but any contribution to the success of my dad’s transplant is greatly appreciated whether that is through sharing this campaign, positive thoughts, prayers and support.
My dad has just been upgraded to Grandpa status and your support will allow my dad to live a life free of his current health challenges.
Thank you from the entire Beazley Family.
