Hurricane Melissa brought devastating winds and flooding to Western Jamaica, and Savanna-la-Mar — the parish capital and home to the Sav Inclusive School — was hit especially hard.
The storm made landfall less than ten miles from the campus. Roofs were torn away, classrooms were flooded, therapy rooms and learning materials were destroyed, and the school grounds were left badly damaged. Many families in the surrounding community experienced even greater loss.
Island Gigs is teaming up once again with the Rockhouse Foundation to provide direct support to rebuild the Sav Inclusive School and to help the students, families, and teachers most affected by the storm.
Your donation — large or small — will go directly toward:
- Repairing and rebuilding damaged classrooms and therapy spaces
- Replacing essential educational and therapeutic equipment lost to flooding
- Restoring a safe, nurturing environment where students can return and thrive
- Providing direct assistance to the hardest-hit families, students, and teachers
The Sav Inclusive School is a public school built from the ground up by the Rockhouse Foundation and by caring individuals like you who have contributed to this mission over the years. It is a place where children with and without disabilities learn side by side in a full-inclusion setting, and it currently serves 265 students from ages 3 through grade 6.
