Rocco was found on the streets during the cold days of December.
He was hiding under the chairs at a bar, frightened and with the saddest look in his eyes, when a kind girl asked us for help. At the time, we told her we could only help with spay/neuter; we simply didn’t have space for another dog.
Unfortunately, the girl couldn’t find him again.
A few days later, something incredible happened. Rocco suddenly appeared in my neighborhood… right in front of me. This tiny 5-month-old puppy had walked across the city for three days. That’s when we truly felt it was fate that brought him to us, and we took him in. The moment he got into the car, he fell asleep immediately, completely exhausted.
Since then, we have been working hard to find a better future for this handsome young boy. And finally, we received a “yes.”
A very reputable rescue abroad has agreed to help, and an amazing family has offered to be his flight volunteers on March 14. They will be flying back to Washington with their own dog; and if everything goes well, Rocco will be on that journey with them, heading toward his new life.
But preparing a dog for international travel is expensive, and as always, we need your help. Rocco has been neutered today and everything went well. Because he appeared slightly anemic—most likely due to being such a playful and active puppy in the shelter—we also repeated his 4DX test to make sure everything is safe for travel.
Here is a breakdown of the expenses:
Veterinary care, neuter and tests: 130€
Travel documents and preparation: 90€
Flight ticket: 490Euro
IATA travel crate: 180€
Total: 750€
The wonderful girl who first reported Rocco and tried to help him will generously contribute 300€.
This leaves $700 still uncovered, and this is where we truly need your support.
Rocco didn’t deserve to be abandoned. And he certainly doesn’t deserve to spend his whole life in a shelter. He is loving, playful, and incredibly sweet; exactly the kind of dog who will quickly find a family once he arrives abroad.
