I represent a young kid by the name of Rocco Landers. He is one of the country's best young roadracers. He is trying to live the dream of being a professional racer. Since 2008, roadracing has been in horrible financial shape due to the lack of funding by the OEMs. Riders are paid almost nothing. Rocco is one of those who do it for the love of the sport in hopes of one day getting a break. He is a real kind, young, talented person whom I am honored to help. Back in 2024, Rocco was out at Adams Kart Track in Riverside, California, and was involved in an accident with another rider on the course. It was a common racing accident. The other rider, Greg Dachner, because he has a wife and a father who are lawyers, decided to sue Rocco for the injuries he sustained in a practice incident, despite both riders signing a waiver before entering the track.
I have donated all my time to make sure that Mr. Dachner does not prevail. I have even absorbed all of the expenses thus far in order to make sure that this does not happen. We are getting close to trial, and the costs are going to start mounting. We are trying to raise money so that we can prevent Mr. Dachner from taking advantage of the legal system, which continues to erode the freedoms that motorcyclists enjoy. The expenses will go toward retaining experts and court costs during the trial. Talk about a chilling effect if we lose. Should this happen, expect that your motorcycling experience will change. You go to a racetrack and you're not sure if you fall or crash into anybody or there's a racing incident, you're going to have it in the back of your mind that you could end up as a defendant in a court case where the other party seeks damages from you, despite signing a waiver and acknowledging that motorcycling is an inherintantly dangerous activity. Essentially, waivers will be meaningless, and that means our freedoms will cease to exist here in California; it could speed up the possibility that there will be no tracks left in California. Worse, it will easily spread to other states.
Please help us if you can.
