Support Robyn's Journey to Study Music in the Netherlands

Hello!
I’m Robyn, a trans woman, musician, and collaborative artist who’s about to take a huge step: I’m moving from the U.S. to the Netherlands to study queerness and disability in music. This opportunity is both a dream come true and a leap into the unknown — and I’m asking for your support to help me get there.
In the fall, I’ll be starting the New Audiences and Innovative Practice graduate program at the Prince Claus Conservatory, where I will be researching the intersections of sound, gender, neurodiversity, and identity. My research and practice will explore the trans experience, access, and creative resistance — how music shapes and is shaped by those of us who live in queer and disabled minds and bodies. It’s deeply personal work, and it’s also work I hope will make space for others like me to be unapologetically visible, complicated, and loud.
Making this move isn’t easy. I’m leaving behind my home, my mutual aid networks, and the community support that has helped me survive. As a trans person living in the U.S. right now, this move means escaping state-sponsored persecution, but it also means navigating new bureaucracies. Studying abroad will let me conduct practice-based research safely, bringing attention and support to my trans siblings in the United States and across the world.
Your support will help cover:
• Visa application and immigration fees
• First month’s rent and housing deposit in the Netherlands
• Travel costs (flight + baggage)
• Essential prescriptions and gender-affirming care during the transition
• Basic setup costs (bike, kitchen supplies, bedding — the whole “starting over” kit)
Every dollar helps — truly. If you can’t donate, sharing this with your people would mean the world.
Thank you for reading, for supporting, for dreaming with me.
With lots of love and lots of noise,
Robyn Marshall
