Support Robyn Lee's Battle Against Breast Cancer

Robyn Lee is a 32-year old cardiac ICU nurse from the St. Louis/Chicago area currently living in San Diego. I met her in 2019 on the first day at our orientation at UCSD Hospital in San Diego, CA. Little did I know, she would become my best friend and one of the most important people in my life.

To know Robyn is to love her. She’s kind, bubbly, hilarious, fun, and so incredibly easy to get along with. She loves the beach, her dogs Bentley and Tucker, her husband Zach, singing and playing guitar, football, barre class, running (she has many hobbies). She’s a devoted sister, daughter, niece, cousin, friend- and wife! She married Zach (who is also an ICU nurse!) in October 2024 on the beach in San Diego, not long after her diagnosis.

Robyn thought her big event for 2024 would be her wedding. Unfortunately, she was hit with the unexpected diagnosis of Stage 1 IDC (Invasive Ductal Carcinoma) DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ), HER2 positive breast cancer. She underwent a double mastectomy in November 2024 and is currently undergoing 12 weeks of chemotherapy and long-term Herceptin therapy. Her prognosis is great and her medical team is doing everything in their power to make sure the cancer does not return.

Robyn’s resilience and positivity through this all has been inspiring to all those who are lucky enough to be around her.

Unfortunately, insurance has not covered all of her expenses associated with her illness, and these two nurse newlyweds have been hit with medical bills this year. They have dreams of buying a home, going on a honeymoon, and traveling to Europe together someday.

In support of Robyn and her family, we are hosting a 5k run/race in San Diego, CA on Saturday, August 2nd 2025 at 11am on Mission Bay. Further details will be emailed closer to the event.

We will be donating a portion of the funds to the Helen Knoll Breast Cancer Foundation. Helen was also a nurse diagnosed with breast cancer at a young age. Helen Knoll Foundation

Any donation is accepted to participate in the 5k. We are also asking for donations from those who are unable to attend the 5k.
