Hi. My name is Melissa and I am trying to raise funds for my daughter, Robyn, and her boyfriend, John. In June, Robyn and John discovered they were expecting. A total happy surprise that everyone in all families was happy to hear and celebrated. It was not long after that we found out they were having identical twins, and through genetic testing, we found out the twins are girls. During a standard ultrasound, it was discovered that Baby A had several health issues. Her spine is in the form of an upside-down Y, a form of spina bifida, and she has a hole in her abdomen that has caused a portion of her intestines to be outside of her body. Baby B appeared to be in good health. Many tests were done, including blood genetic testing and amniocentesis for both twins. Everything came back normal, and it was a very rare occurrence that this happened. At another one of Robyn’s appointments with her specialist, they discovered the girls may have twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS). Baby A was “stealing” nutrients and blood flow from Baby B. This caused Baby A to be over-engorged with fluid while Baby B was unable to produce amniotic fluid. Amniotic fluid was drained from Baby A. Things seemed to improve; however, at a follow-up appointment, the specialist saw Baby B may have a severe brain injury. If Baby B has a severe brain injury, then Baby A will more than likely have one as well. The brain injury is caused due to the TTTS. The brain injury will affect the twins' quality of life. They would be living life in a coma state. Her specialist also saw that Baby A’s heart is leaking and one of her ventricles was not properly functioning. Further testing will need to be done to confirm their possible findings. The testing never came to be. At about 11 pm on October 12, Robyn’s water broke for Baby B. She is currently 23 weeks pregnant. The twins' chance of survival is less than 1%. Robyn is hospitalized until she has the girls. They do currently have a heart rate; however, things are slowly declining. Both Robyn and John are unable to work due to the horrible situation. Sadly, bills do not stop coming in. With neither of them working, bills are piling up and financial funds are running low. All I am asking is for any kind of help/donation to help take some stress off of them with the bills. Please, keep them and all of our families in your thoughts and prayers. We love you, Robyn and John!! We will all help you both through this difficult time.
