Support Rob's Road to Recovery

If you’ve been lucky enough to meet Rob Sheaffer, you have walked away a better person. He is one of the most genuine people you’ll ever cross paths with, willing to help anyone who needs it, especially those he loves the most. Rob loves a good time, will never turn down a piece of smoked meat with a cold beer or glass of whiskey, loves working with his hands in his garage, his friends, his dogs and guinea pig, his family, but most importantly the love of his life, his Molly Jane.
Rob had a massive stroke on March 1st as the result of a blood clot in his neck. He was home with Molly (who would have normally been at work at the time) when his symptoms of dizziness, vision impairment, and severe head pain first started. Molly called 911 and he was able to treated quickly by the paramedics and doctors. It was touch and go with a lot of risk, but he was beginning to show signs of improvement/recovery within the first few hours. However, when they attempted to break up the clot, it moved and sent Rob into a seizure. He underwent surgery to remove the clot, which restored blood flow to his brain. But, when he came out of that, his left side was paralyzed and his speech was affected. Since then, he’s spent countless, dedicated hours in speech, occupational, and physical therapies and has made great improvements, however he still has a long road ahead of him. Molly has been by his side everyday, while still working and maintaining their home.
Rob and Molly are not the kind to ask for help, but they need us now. Their home requires some modification to make it accessible for Rob in his wheelchair and walker, including a lift to get him into the house. He will also need 24 hour care once he’s home. That, on top of the added costs that insurance doesn’t cover, is putting unnecessary stress on them. No one knows how long it will be until Rob is back on his feet smoking some meat out back, and working on a car in the garage. In order to get him there quicker, the financial burden needs to be lifted from them. Any amount will help in the end and we know they will appreciate it more than they’ll ever be able to express.
Rob and Molly are grateful to the incredible team of doctors and therapists, all of the support from friends and family, and to you for reading his story and considering how you could help one of the greatest humans we’re lucky to know.
