This is not the Christmas we expected.
Tomorrow, my husband Rob—my best friend of nearly 20 years—will undergo brain surgery to remove a large tumor from his right frontal lobe. Doctors believe it is an aggressive form of cancer, and we are preparing our treatment plan accordingly. There is also a second tumor located in the tentorium, at the back of his brain. Thankfully, it is smaller and less complex and will remain for now.
We are grateful that scans of the rest of his body are clear, and we expect to learn much more in the coming weeks.
We take comfort in knowing that our sovereign and loving God is not surprised by this diagnosis. We can already see His hand in the details, and we feel deeply supported by our church community. We are not walking this road alone.
One of our dear friends has graciously offered to create a site to help support us financially in the year—or years—ahead, and we are incredibly thankful for that kindness and yours.
