I have been on disability and it just ran out. I have since applied for permanent disability but was told that if I qualify, I won’t even know for approximately nine months. I was on disability because of an injury to my foot. I have needed surgery, but I have a blood clot (DVT) in my ankle, so I could not get medically cleared for the operation. Since then, I ended up developing an infection in my bone and had to have it removed. I currently have eight stitches in the bottom of my foot.

Right now, I have no money coming in and no family to lean on for help, especially not financially. In the past, I have collected recyclables to get by, but I literally cannot be on my feet for the next two months. I’m afraid I’m going to lose everything.

I currently still have the blood clot in my ankle, and because of the infection in my bone, my only choice was to do the surgery, even though it put me at further risk. I also currently have to do IV antibiotics for the next 6 weeks. I am praying that they caught all of the infection and that I heal well.
