Hello!

My name is Robin and I am an 18-year-old college student (now 19) who is a recipient of gender-affirming care. I started identifying as transgender as long as 5 or 6 years ago. This summer, on a school break, I will be getting top surgery to align with my gender identity.

To get an intense medical procedure like this, a lot of money has to go into it (the cost of the actual surgery, recovery supports, aftercare, etc). I do not have a lot of familial support, and I also don't have the best insurance. Therefore, some extra funds will be needed, especially with the rising cost of healthcare in the United States and the stigma against transgender based medicinal treatment. All funds will go towards surgery costs and a healthy healing process.

On behalf of my medical team, my friends, and the people close to me — I can accurately say this surgery will save my life and benefit my mental health journey, as it does for the numerous transgender and gender expansive people who transition. More people regret getting knee surgery than they do getting treatment for gender dysphoria.
