This is my sister Robin. As you read this she is completely bed-bound. She has debilitating mental illnesses including dementia. During the Covid-19 pandemic she suffered a near-fatal accident and will never be able to walk or live without 24-hour care again. In her youth she led a happy, active life and was a good student and outstanding athlete with, we thought, tremendous potential to live a long, happy and fulfilling life. Unfortunately, since her youth Robin has had a very sad and tragic life and all the family cares about at this point is providing her with as much medical care and quality of life as we possibly can. Our father, who supported Robin financially, passed away after some severe health struggles of his own, and our mother died tragically and suddenly just as we were able to get Robin off the streets where she survived by sleeping under the overpass and eating out of garbage cans. We finally, with the incredible support of local agency and an extremely compassionate and effective doctor got her off the streets but once again, fate struck an extremely unkind blow to Robin. Currently she resides in a care home but we want to move her back into her family home. Long term, we should be able to continue her care by sharing that home with at least 2 other patients. Unfortunately that home had to undergo major repairs just to be habitable again. We'll use any funds donated to continue to pay for her medical care while we try to transition her back to her own home. Thank you in advance for the kindness and compassion you've shown just reading about Robin and we're grateful for whatever can be done on her behalf.
