Support Robin in her Healing Journey

Many of us are lucky enough to call Robin Schlenger family, friend, coach, trainer, and a pillar in the anti-racism community of New York City and beyond.

Last year, Robin was diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), a life-threatening, degenerative disease. She is committed to healing as she adapts to her changing abilities. In partnership with her health care team, she has participated in a clinical trial while also committing herself to meditation and Feldenkrais therapy (the only time her body gets relief from pain and stiffness).

One of Robin’s adaptations has been to depend on a motorized wheelchair to get around, and this has necessitated moving out of her (now inaccessible) home in Manhattan and putting it up for sale. Until that happens, and until she is eligible for Social Security Disability in June, Robin is facing considerable financial challenges.

Please join us in donating funds to help her bridge the gap until that time. Our goal is to raise $30,000 by June 30th. Your generosity will go towards meeting the following essential needs:
● Lost income;
● Co-pays for adaptive equipment;
● Living expenses until her home sells;
● A weekly session of Feldenkrais therapy; and
● A full-time caregiver. Ingrid took care of Robin’s dad through his battle with Alzheimer's Disease and knows her whole family. She is a consistent and loving helper who can anticipate and assist when Robin cannot always communicate.

We have experienced the power of community when we come together in solidarity and support. Thank you for joining us to support Robin through a donation of any size and by passing this campaign along through your networks.

From Robin’s March 2026 blog: “Service has always mattered to me. But now I understand it as medicine, meditation. Not in a bypassing way. Not in a ‘helping others so I don’t have to feel my own pain’ way. But in the way that reminds me I am part of something larger than my diagnosis, larger than my fear, and larger than this crazy winter. Being even a small part of healing myself and others by interrupting harm, expanding understanding, connecting people, or creating spaces where accountability and compassion coexist gives me strength. It gives me energy, and it brings me a sense of fulfillment that illness cannot take away. I cannot control outcomes. But I can choose how I show up and how I contribute. That choice feels radical and grounding at the same time.” (https://robinschlengerlcsw.com)
