Robin and Blaine Schmidt have always been there for their community, but now Robin and her stepdaughters are facing an unimaginable loss. Blaine was hospitalized at Christmas under uncertain circumstances, and while in the hospital, he went into heart failure and passed away unexpectedly on January 4. His sudden passing has left Robin and her family without any life or burial insurance, or other means of meaningful support during this difficult time.
The primary need right now is for funeral expenses. Blaine's last will and testament was to be buried in his family burial plot in his hometown of Dickinson, North Dakota. The expenses involved in the funeral here in Alaska, the transfer to North Dakota, and interment there have created a significant financial burden for Robin and her stepdaughters, who want nothing more than to honor Blaine's final wishes and give him the farewell he deserves.
Blaine was loved by so many, and his life as a pastor impacted untold numbers. He played a vital role at MCA Church for many years, faithfully leading senior groups and caring for the elder community. He officiated many funerals and walked alongside so many through seasons of grief. He established the Celebrate Recovery Program at Muldoon Community Assembly, and many attended his funeral to express their testimony that if it weren't for Blaine, they would not be alive today. His co-workers from the Alaska School District Bus Drivers and his summer employment as a Tour Bus Driver for Holland America/Princess came to honor him. He regularly led teams onto the streets of Anchorage, passing out sandwiches to the hungry and homeless, feeding thousands of less fortunate neighbors in our community over the years. Hundreds attended his funeral here during a severe winter storm warning, a testament to the life he led and the people he has helped along the way. He will be remembered as a friend and mentor to so many. Please join us in lifting Pastor Robin and family as they grieve the passing of Pastor Blaine. We are asking for your support to help Robin and her family honor Blaine's final wishes and cover these unexpected expenses. Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
