On May 5, 2025, my husband, Robert Owen, suffered a spinal cord injury after a medical adjustment that left him paralyzed. Since then, he has endured multiple procedures, long hospital stays, and three weeks of inpatient rehabilitation.

Robert is determined to walk again. He is a fighter with incredible grit, and every small gain has given us hope. He can now move his left leg, and after using a PEMF (Bemer) mat, he even regained movement in his right foot — a miracle moment we will never forget. But recovery is a long road, and we cannot do it alone.

The biggest hurdle we face now is continuing Robert’s rehabilitation. His doctor referred him to a local spine and brain rehab center with specialized equipment that could help him regain independence. Robert was accepted after evaluation, but insurance denied coverage. We are in the middle of appeals, but time is critical — the first six months after a spinal cord injury are crucial for regaining function, and Robert is already four months in. He has now gone three weeks without therapy.

Private sessions cost $175 each, with two recommended per week. These treatments could help Robert regain movement, strength, and dignity. Unfortunately, after months of hospital bills and the sudden halt of our family construction business, we are in a financial crisis.

We have been married for 30 years and built a beautiful life together with our children and granddaughter, who lives with us. Robert is the heart of our family — the best husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He loves golfing, hiking, coaching youth sports, traveling, and going to Friday night football games with our granddaughter. Right now, he is completely dependent for daily needs, but with therapy, he has a real chance to regain independence.
