I’m Robert Speake. I live in Denver, Colorado, and am a former U.S. Army officer, a retired engineer, a former ski patroller, and an award-winning author. I have three adult children, seven grandchildren (four of whom have spouses), and three great-grandchildren (so far!). I have Type 2 diabetes and recently enrolled in a treatment program for it which has a 95% success rate. However, it’s a functional medicine program, which isn’t covered by health insurance, Medicare, or the VA health care system. And I find I can’t continue with the program unless I have financial support to pay the medical debt associated with the program, which promises to arrest my diabetes, greatly improve my quality of life, and enhance my longevity a few years. Without the financial support, I will be forced to find a cheaper place to live instead of the small apartment I just moved into. With it, I might have a few more years to finish my three-volume memoir project which could help countless people better deal with the challenges of life.
UPDATE: A major donor has agreed to pay the $15,000 medical debt the campaign was set up to raise. Thus, the campaign goal is now to raise $7,000 to defray the costs of publishing my memoir. If any of you want to have your medical contribution returned, email me and I’ll do that.
