Hello, I’m Robert Terrell!

I’m not here to tell a sob story, but I want to briefly describe my current situation.

Earlier this year, I was a small electronics repair technician at a job I thought I was going to work with for a good minute! Everything was pretty smooth there. I loved the atmosphere and the people I worked with. But there was one huge issue that arose. Our company was acquired by a holding company. The company that bought my job did a mass layoff in February. They fired my mom and 47 others. My mom was the person who referred me! Three years of excellence and never any discrepancies, gone because the holding company wanted to cut expenses. After that happened, I figured that I should look for another job. I didn’t feel valued, respected, or cared about like I did when I first got hired. So, I put out some feelers and ended up finding a friend who offered somewhat of a great solution and a new opportunity in a field that I thought I could excel in. I packed my bags and left from Denver, Colorado to Melbourne, Florida in mid-February and was able to go be an apprentice at an auto body shop.

Unfortunately, due to some shady dealings by the owners, I was let go and left distraught because my whole plan was to learn a trade and get certified.

Shortly after that, I was back in Colorado and jobless. I didn’t get any leads for a month. I’ve applied to over 100 jobs since March—68 here in Colorado and the rest in Florida. Unfortunately, Indeed has not been good to me. I haven’t had any luck.

I did find a job at a thrift store and worked there for a month but was let go again because of a mistake on my part for expressing myself to a supervisor and having it misinterpreted as disrespect.

I was overworked and underpaid, so I didn’t fight to keep that job and didn’t bother explaining the situation further because I felt some discrimination from the supervisors there. I have applied with staffing agencies and all jobs nearby my family home. I haven’t heard anything back and I’ve fallen behind on all my major bills.

My car note hasn’t been paid. My insurance lapsed. My phone line is currently suspended. I’m also on the verge of losing my rented room in Denver. Unfortunately, my car needs a radiator and a fuel pump, so it is in need of repair as well. So, it’s been hard to keep driving around and actively searching for work because I never know how long it will keep driving. I have borrowed from and paid back all my family and friends who have tried to help me stay afloat, but it’s been extremely frustrating to keep having to bother them with my issues.

I’m attempting to raise this money to pay off my car, and to hopefully be able to start a small business! I want to detail cars and also start a private dishwashing company. Kinda like a private chef but cleaner!

I’m hoping that this will reach people who had similar ambitions who have the ability to help!
