Help Roberta Become an ER Doctor!

Hi, my name is Roberta Erse, and I’m a fourth-year medical student preparing to apply for residency in Emergency Medicine — a field that captured my heart with its urgency, its unpredictability, and its deep humanity. In the emergency room, we’re asked to lead with clarity, compassion, and courage — and I’ve never felt more at home.
Getting to this point has taken resilience. As a non-traditional, immigrant student, I’ve walked a path full of both challenges and growth. During medical school, I balanced studying with work and caring for my father — my hero — while he battled cancer. In my fifth semester, I lost him. His unwavering positivity and strength during that time became my guide. I carry him with me every day, especially when I care for others facing their own moments of crisis.
I’ve always been committed to more than just medicine. I’ve volunteered in hospitals, offered comfort to patients through companionship, music, prayer, or simply listening. I’m fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, and I believe in meeting people where they are — with respect, cultural understanding, and heart.
Now, I’m at a pivotal moment — applying to residency and preparing for USMLE Step 2, away rotations, and interviews. But this next chapter comes with high costs that can be overwhelming, especially for students without financial support.
Your donation will directly help cover the following:
• Residency Application Fees (ResidencyCAS & supplemental apps): $2,000
• Away Rotations (housing, transportation, application fees): $3,500
• USMLE Step 2 CK Exam $1,100
• Travel for Interviews (flights, hotels, local travel): $2,000
• Professional Headshot, Licensing, & Required Documents: $300
Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference — not just in covering expenses, but in helping me carry this dream forward. If you can’t donate, sharing my story would mean the world.
Thank you for being part of this journey with me. One day soon, I hope to be the physician standing beside someone in their scariest moment — steady, skilled, and full of heart — because people like you believed in me.
With gratitude,
Roberta Erse, Future Emergency Medicine Doctor
