Support Robert Through Cancer Journey & Recovery

Robert Brady, known to many as Sissy, has always been a source of creativity and inspiration in every city he’s called home. After leaving Michigan at 18, Robert worked odd jobs and attended some schooling in New York, where he began to explore his passion for makeup and fashion. His journey led him to Chicago, where he truly blossomed as a nightlife drag performer, captivating audiences and building a supportive community. Many of you may know him as Sissy, the striking artist “makeup queen” who brings style and color to every stage.

Robert moved to Los Angeles to continue pursuing his art and soon met his chosen family. Robert decided to augment his love for art by going back to school focusing on art history and curation. He attended LACC and Cal State LA, eventually earning his MA in Curatorial Practices and the Public Sphere from USC Roski School of Art and Design. He’s set to start a Getty Graduate Internship this Fall.

Recently, Robert was recently diagnosed with early stage 1 colon cancer. This diagnosis has made it impossible for him to continue working, and he now faces the challenge of sustaining his housing and covering essential expenses while he focuses on recovery, especially after his upcoming colectomy surgery. The funds raised here will go directly toward Robert’s rent, utilities, groceries, and medical-related care, ensuring he has the stability and support he needs during this difficult time.

Robert would never start his own GoFundMe, he’s too proud and shy having to reach out, but this diagnosis has made everything so much more difficult. Robert’s journey has always been about resilience, self-expression, and community. Now, he needs our help. Your support—whether through a donation or by sharing this fundraiser—will make a real difference in Robert’s life. Let’s come together to help Robert heal and return to the art and community he loves. Any contribution is deeply appreciated, and we thank you for standing with Robert as he faces this challenge. We know times are rough for everyone, so we genuinely thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
