Akeba Jones plays a vital role at Chabot-Las Positas Community College District (CLPCCD) working on trainings for the Child Welfare system and continuing to give of herself as she works closely with at risk youth and adults on the weekends. Akeba gives so much to her family, friends, colleagues and community; bringing so much strength and peace to many. Akeba’s children mean the world to her! Anyone that knows Akeba has seen her light up while talking about them.

Akeba received that one phone call we, as parents, never want to get. On Thursday, March 5th 2020, Akeba’s first born son Robert Jones passed away. Robert was a graduate of Livermore High School, class of 2013, and was living in San Diego when he passed. Robert loved to play sports, eat healthy and work out. He wouldn’t even take aspirin because of what it could do to his body. Akeba shared the many hours spent watching Robert at Martial Arts tournaments and how proud she was.

In addition to the pain of losing her son, Akeba has the burden of tremendous costs in getting her son's remains home (over $1,200 for just the transportation) and laying him to rest, while taking care of her other children. Her friends and colleagues at CLPCCD wanted to do something to help with these unexpected costs and this GoFundMe page idea came up. Please help Akeba find strength and peace by helping to reduce these financial worries.
