Friends and family, many of you may already know, while others may not, that in January, my wonderful father-in-law, Rob, was diagnosed with oropharyngeal cancer. He completed eight weeks of intense rounds of chemotherapy and radiation in March and was moving toward recovery. This week, he hit a speed bump when he began bleeding from a vessel on his carotid artery. He had emergency surgery last night to stop the bleeding and is currently in ICU.
Robert Hanssen is a devoted husband, loving father, and remarkable father figure whose strength, compassion, and unwavering support have made a lasting impact on those around him. As the Nurse Manager at PAM Warm Springs Rehabilitation, he serves others with the same kindness and dedication he brings to his family. Incredibly hardworking and fiercely independent, Robert leads by example and is admired for his caring heart, integrity, and selfless spirit.
We are asking for help from friends and family because Rob used all of his sick days during his cancer treatment, and we are unsure of the timeline for his return to work. If you know the Hanssens they don’t ask for help unless it’s really needed and if you know Rob well, you know he is definitely not one to ask for help. He would much rather be the one helping. Cancer has knocked him down, but he is fighting his hardest to get back on his feet.
Funds raised will help ease the stress of lost income and allow Rob to focus on what matters most—his recovery and spending precious time with his family. Donations will help cover everyday living expenses, medical costs, and provide much-needed peace of mind during this difficult chapter. Your support, whether through a donation, a prayer, or simply sharing his story, will make a meaningful difference and allow my wonderful father-in-law and family to navigate this journey with hope and dignity. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
