Hello, everyone. My name is Anita, and last month, my BFF Robert was diagnosed with lung cancer. He will be having surgery this coming month, on March 12, to remove 1/3 of his lung containing the cancer. The doctors feel that he should do well with the surgery, and because it was found early, his prognosis is very good. They do not anticipate that it has spread.

Robert's work is physical in nature, building maintenance, and he will be unable to lift or do much physically for 6-8 weeks, which means he will be unable to work. He is very stressed and concerned about how he will pay his living expenses and support his son. He plans to apply for disability, but is required to wait for 9 days after surgery to apply and then wait for approval. Once approved, it will cover approximately 2/3 of his income.
