On Saturday Jan 10th Jenny slipped on black ice due to poor weather conditions. This fall resulted in a significant fracture of her right leg femur just above a replaced knee. Jenny underwent surgery on Sunday Jan 11th at the Queensway Carleton hospital in Ottawa Canada.

The orthopedic surgeon was satisfied that the operation went well despite being difficult and complex. He expects she will now need several weeks to reach acceptable load bearing on the injured leg. During this time, she will be moved to a convalescence facility for several weeks and will then return to the Queensway Carleton hospital for an indeterminate time for rehab. Only then will she be able to return home. Bottom line, the health journey looks like it will take months.

This incident has resulted in significant concerns and has introduced many complications in their lives other than just the leg break.

As a small group of friends we are coming alongside Robert and Jenny to help sort through many issues including the unexpected financial challenges related to Jenny's overall medical treatment plan, Robert’s ongoing health concerns, continuity for their business that they rely on and the resulting loss of income that has occurred, medical device procurement, rehabilitation expenses, miscellaneous expenses, etc.

For those familiar with Robert and Jenny you will know that they would not ask for financial assistance on their own. Rather, as a community we can come alongside these wonderful people, both now in their eighties who have unselfishly blessed so many others throughout their lives, including volunteering in Canada (homeless people in Montreal) and internationally for humanitarian and health relief (Albania, Bosnia, Lebanon, SW Africa).

Now is the time to help support Robert and Jenny in their moment of need.
