Help Rob Fight Stage 4 Metastatic Melanoma
To say 2025 has been a struggle is an understatement. Rob Montgomery has faced one challenge after another — medically, mentally, and financially — yet continues to fight for his family every single day.
Rob, 55, lives with his wife of 23 years, Stephanie (who is disabled with multiple sclerosis and fibromyalgia), his 78-year-old mother-in-law, and his youngest son. He has always been the family’s rock — a hard worker who provided for everyone through years of manual labor. He is the father to Justin Montgomery, Jeremy Montgomery, Ryan Montgomery and Jori DeNeve.
A Year of Hardship
January: Hospitalized for pneumonia, followed by a mental health stay in Chicago.
March: Lost his job of seven years at Ferguson. Despite appealing with proof, unemployment was denied.
April–May: Began a new job but passed out at work due to what was believed to be a mini-stroke, leading to another job loss. Around the same time, Stephanie suffered a femur fracture after an accident at home.
July: Rob’s father passed away suddenly at 79.
September: After finally finding work at RP Lumber, a coughing spell led to a minor workplace accident and another job termination.
October: While starting at Seigle’s Cabinet Center, Rob collapsed again. Tests revealed Stage 4 metastatic melanoma in his lungs — a recurrence of the melanoma he fought in 2012.
As if that weren’t enough, on October 27, Rob’s mother-in-law suffered a mini-stroke and is now recovering with home therapy.
Where Things Stand Now
Rob is focusing on his health while awaiting treatment plans for his cancer. The family is struggling with mounting medical bills, prescriptions, and everyday living expenses. Despite losing his strength, Rob still tries to work when possible through delivery apps to make ends meet.
