Hello - My name is Craig Day, and a few months ago, Rob Laing, my best friend of over 40 years was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. For several months now he has courageously travelled the most dreaded road - the diagnoses, treatment and recovery of being a victim of cancer. As a result of his journey, he has lost his vitality, strength and the capability to earn an income (not to mention 50 lbs) and the disease has hit him hard both emotionally and financially. While he has good insurance, the reality is that not everything is covered, and there are very costly deductibles to be paid. The added expense coupled with the reduction of income has put him in a position where he needs help. And this the reason for this outreach. Id like to share a message from Rob himself -
"A few months ago, life felt full, busy, and predictable in the best way.
I was working hard in real estate, showing homes, helping families make big life decisions, and staying involved in the community I love. Most importantly, I was being a dad to my three kids—showing up to games, practices, and the everyday moments that mean everything.
Then everything changed.
I was diagnosed with esophageal cancer.
Since that day, life has become a series of doctor visits, chemotherapy, and radiation treatments. The fight is real. The treatments are intense. Some days, just getting out of bed feels like a victory. The energy I once had to serve my clients, support my community, and provide for my family has been replaced with the physical toll of trying to heal.
What’s been hardest isn’t just the pain or the exhaustion—it’s the feeling of not being able to show up the way I always have. I’ve always taken pride in working hard, providing for my family, and being someone others can count on. Now, I find myself in a position where I need help.
And that’s not easy to say.
My focus right now has to be on fighting this cancer with everything I have. I want to be here—to watch my kids grow up, to get back to the life I love, and to continue serving the people and community that have given me so much over the years.
But the reality is, the cost of treatment is overwhelming. Between chemotherapy, radiation, and time away from work, the financial pressure has become something I can’t carry alone.
If you’re able to help, I would be deeply grateful. Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward my medical care and supporting my family during this fight.
And if you can’t give, sharing this message means more than you know.
I truly believe in staying strong, staying hopeful, and continuing to fight. This is just a chapter—not the end of the story.
Thank you for standing with me, for your support, your prayers, and for being part of my life.
It means everything."
Those of you who know me probably know Rob too. And even if you don't know either of us, this is a chance to help a fellow man in a time of need.
A good man. A good father and hard working member of his community.
And that is the beauty of this. Knowing a person is not a requirement of lending a hand. The only requirement is having a sense of kindness and compassion.
So please, give if you can and share this so others will have an opportunity to help as well. rob and his family will thank you, and so will your heart.
