Please Support Robert Orr Memorial

Hello All,

Thank you for supporting my brother Robert and his wife following his battle against colon cancer. These are his words:

There are so many aspects for a family that is managing this disease that you don’t realize until it hits you. This journey has several elements; physical, emotional, and financial. We were not prepared for the sudden nature of these elements. It is sort of like going on a road trip and packing your bags as you travel. I have not been by myself on this journey, Colleen has been by my side the entire way. It has been intense for both of us. Colleen is my caregiver along with taking care of the household, 3 fur babies and her daycare business. Colleen has a tremendous amount of responsibility on her shoulders.

Our GoFundMe page has helped us tremendously with medical expenses, medical supplies, costs of going to appointments and procedures, household costs such as; groceries, repairs, utilities, etc… The high point has been from our friends who have supported us financially with donations and from our neighbors who have dropped off prepared meals, helped with the fur babies and lawn care.

The low point is that our journey continues and we ask for continued help. Medical expenses have exceeded over $100,000.00. Thankfully the Health plan has covered the majority of it but out of pocket has risen to $4,000.00 but we are behind in covering these out of pocket expenses.

There are medical expenses for medical supplies and Chemotherapy. Each lifesaving treatment is several thousand dollars alone. These medical costs coupled with everyday costs have plunged our budget into the negative. The cost of feeding three furbabies, one of which is a Great Dane / Mastiff, is ever increasing. There are the costs of traveling to treatments and appointments and scans. Regarding our daycare business that Colleen operates, the costs of State Certification, supplies, assistants, Insurance have all increased. Colleen has to hire additional help to keep the daycare going while we go on these appointments.
