Hey everyone, I'm not really good at these nor have I ever done a GoFundMe, but I'd really like to ask for any help we can for my big brother Rob Helmer, his fiancé Lani, and his 4-year-old daughter Vada. I know everyone is wondering what is going on, and I will do my best to explain...

First of all, my brother is very sick. He needs a liver transplant, but he is too sick right now to receive one at this time. He has been at Hurley for the last 2 weeks. He is currently on a vent and fighting for his life. He was just airlifted to Henry Ford Hospital to get further treatment. He's going to be undergoing a TIPS procedure, which is a procedure to basically bypass the liver and buy him some time until he can become a candidate for a new liver. In the meantime, his kidneys are also shutting down. He's in critical condition, and we are hoping for a miracle. He has varices, which are enlarged blood vessels in his throat, and they keep rupturing, which is why he was put on the vent to try to let his body heal. They have banded the varices, but it's not helping, and unfortunately, there has been nothing further Hurley was able to do for him. We are hoping for a miracle I hope this answers any questions about my brother...

Now on to why I started this GoFundMe. Lani is the sole provider for their household. My brother is a SAHD (stay-at-home dad); he provides all care for his daughter and their house while Lani keeps the household financially running. Lani has missed the last 2 weeks of work going back and forth to the hospital for my brother and caring for her daughter. Her whole work schedule was shifted. I'm asking for help to take some of the burden of the bills that are going to start piling up away. She is now going to be traveling back and forth to the hospital, so now this will be an even further drive every day with no pay. So I'm hoping we can all come together, friends and family, and help Lani and Vada, and hopefully for when my brother can make his return home to his family. My brother would want this 100%. He loves Lani and Vada, and he would not want them to be in this position.
