SOS: Save Our Studio

Take one step into Roaring Mouse Creative Arts Studio  and you will know what a special place it is. At first glance, you will probably notice how colorful and bright the studio is. It is a happy space. If you sit in our play area or walk through the art space, you'll notice something that not only can be seen, but also felt. You'll feel the stories that have unfolded over the 23 years that Roaring Mouse has been around. You'll feel the warm hug that this space has provided for so many children and families. You'll feel the creativity and kindness that has been cultivated by our students and the thoughtfulness and dedication of our teachers and staff. You'll feel the history of what we have created and the potential of what can be. This is Roaring Mouse.

Weathering COVID-19

When schools closed in March, 2020, due to COVID-19, Roaring Mouse was able to provide continuity and routine to children and families using virtual learning sessions for our preschool students, videos and at-home art ideas created by our teachers, art kits, and more. This has helped children and families stay in touch with each other and us and to keep the magic of Roaring Mouse in the hearts and minds of our community.

Over the course of the last five months, we have made many difficult decisions for the health and safety of our students and staff. When we closed in March, little did we know that we wouldn’t be welcoming our 2019-2020 preschool class back into the studio to finish the school year or that we would need to cancel all after school classes, Kids Night Out, birthday parties, and 10 weeks of summer camps. As we enter the fall, we have had to make one more difficult decision - perhaps the hardest one so far: whether or not to reopen the studio to students and resume our preschool program. In the end, we decided to err on the side of extreme caution and not open...yet.

We have faced the challenges of 2020 with determination and creativity, but those things can only get you so far. It is time to ask our beloved community for help.

Fundraiser Objectives

Our hope is to resume classes early next year or as soon as it feels safe. With the uncertainty of when we will be able to reopen, we will be spending the next few months (or longer) bringing in little to no income. If we can reach our fundraising goal of $25,000 by September 1, 2020, we will be able to pay our basic bills for a few months, keep our preschool teacher and administrative staff on payroll, and purchase supplies for Holiday Gift Making art kits. With your support, we will keep our teachers working and will find creative ways to stay connected with families and students. We have lots of ideas in the works!

If we exceed our goal, additional funds will go towards purchasing the necessary cleaning supplies and equipment for ensuring the safety of our staff and students.

Note: GoFundMe is helping small businesses that have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic by issuing $500 matching grants to qualifying businesses that raise at least $500 on GoFundMe. #SmallBusinessRelief
