Our Senior Pooch Roamer was recently attacked by a loose dog and is facing significant vet bills as he recovers.
Roamer is an oversized lap dog who lives for snuggles! Last week our daily walk took a frightening turn when Roamer was attacked by a loose dog, who’s owner was nowhere in sight. I watched helplessly as it’s jaws clamped on to my sweet boy’s neck and wouldn’t let go. Unable to release his death grip, I could do nothing but scream desperately for help as I watched by baby being mauled.
In an amazing stroke of luck, my cries were heard by a neighbor, who just happened to have pepper spray on him! I’m certain that if not for that brave young man, my snuggle buddy would not be here now. I rushed him to the Doggie ER where he received stiches for the large tear in his eyelid and face, a drain in his neck for a bite would that went all the way through to his ear (eew), sealant for the deep punctures on the top of his head and a very fashionable head cone. A week later, he’s recovering well and starting to act like his old self again.
While there is certainly much to be grateful for, the massive emergency vet bill is a pretty big bummer. I didn’t’ have the money up front and was asked to take out a Care Credit loan. I agreed because I believed (perhaps naively) that he owner of the other dog would reimburse me. Unfortunately, animal control is unable to locate the dog or identify the owner. Already struggling to manage my other bills, I’m concerned won’t be able to pay this.
Anything you can spare will be greatly appreciated!
