This is River. 2 years ago, Elle and I rescued this handsome boy - matted and tired in the wild, bringing him home. Today, he's at the emergency vet for several days. He wasn't eating (his favorite-favorite thing), he wasn't avoiding rubs (DOES NOT LIKE RUBS, unless...food). Stoic Mr. River has a blockage for his urinary tract, and the vet says his bloated little bladder could have killed him. They're doing a second run at clearing the blockage as I wrote this.

The emergency vets have estimate and bills so far at nine-thousand, if everything is perfect. They're going to clear the blockage, more x-rays, and help with his recovery for 3 days.

He's a young cat, he's been super-healthy and chill. He fills an important part of our family ecosystem. Astrid, our over-friendly Berger Picard, respects his space. Frida kit has warmed to him after losing her best cat friend.

For us, he's the rapscallion who strives to escape when taking out the trash on Tuesday night. The beggar who will wind around your legs and be your best friend for just a couple treats. A natural born model, with his piercing blue eyes and flowing fur.
