Hey there. Our sweet friend River (they/them) is undergoing top surgery at the end of January. It's an extensive surgery that requires a minimum of 4-6 weeks of recovery time. They did all of the responsible pre-op things—taking leave from their nursing job, applying for short term disability to cover expenses, reaching out to friends to form a support team—but at the last moment, their short term disability was denied.

River is a disabled Filipino trans person. They don’t have a trust fund. They can’t afford to go 6 weeks without income.

Our fundraising goal of $5000 is intended to keep River housed, fed, and well. All solidarity is welcome! Donations are great. So is sharing this page with your people to spread the word. Working together towards affirming trans wellness is especially important right now. Participating in this fundraiser can serve two purposes—to ensure short-term safety for River and build long-term capacity to fight back against gender discrimination.
