Help Amanda Give River the Care He Deserves
2025 has been an incredibly challenging year for Amanda. She’s endured two vehicle accidents that weren’t her fault, a hailstorm that totaled her horse trailer and damaged her home, serious family health struggles, and the heartbreaking loss of her longtime partner, Ace, after a costly medical battle. Through all of this, Amanda remained resilient, and when River came into her life, it felt like a turning point—a sign that things were finally looking up.
But just weeks into their partnership, tragedy struck again. River suffered a freak pasture accident, sustaining a deep puncture wound from a stick. Amanda acted immediately, securing emergency veterinary care and providing diligent aftercare with the help of her barn team. At first, things looked promising: the wound expelled splinters, antibiotics kept infection at bay, and healing seemed on track.
Unfortunately, over the weekend, River’s condition worsened. He developed a fever, raising concerns about a possible joint infection. Radiographs showed no joint damage, but despite new antibiotics, his recovery has stalled. The likely culprit? Debris still lodged deep in the wound. River now needs to be transported to Myhre Equine Clinic for advanced evaluation and sterile surgical debridement—a procedure critical to saving his leg and restoring his health.
As horse owners, we all plan for emergencies, but Amanda has faced one catastrophic event after another. No one can prepare for this level of hardship alone. That’s why we’re asking our horse community to come together and help Amanda give River the care he needs.
Every contribution—big or small—will go directly toward River’s surgical costs and follow-up care.
Please consider donating and sharing this plea. Let’s show Amanda and River that they’re not alone.
