Hello, my name is Rip Takis. I went out on an adventure with my sister Honey. During my adventure I encountered a devastating attack. I spent two hours in the mud fighting for my life. I heard my dad and had the courage to pull myself up to him from below a hill by my house. My mom and him rushed me two hours to Eugene’s emergency vet clinic. I was bleeding profusely the whole trip there. They were not even sure I would make it. The doctors are not sure if it was a bobcat or a cougar. I have suffered life threatening injuries. I had surgery performed and have multiple tubes in place. I am still currently in critical condition. My parents had to rush me back to ER today, 07/03/2024, because one of my wounds worsened. I want to get back to being a six month old puppy again and playing with my sibling Honey, and my humans siblings, Addison and Tanner. My family is hurting as much as me right now. My mom stayed up with me all night so that I wouldn’t lick my wounds. I may not survive due to the wounds and potential infection. I have a long journey to recovery with rehabilitation. This has cost my family devastating amounts of money.
My name is Aubrie, my co-worker and his family are suffering right now. They are humble and never ask for anything. Rip’s dad and mom come from the first responder family. His mother a nurse and his dad a fire marshal. Times financially are hard for anyone. When pets do not come with medical insurance like we do, injuries can be more than devastating to the emotions and finances. I am asking this because they have spent their lives helping humans and putting them first. If you could help out in support them financially through this hard time. Anything would be appreciated.
The vet bills for the first visit and emergency surgery were $6,500. Their visit today is estimated at $3,000. They would never ask for this, however, this is when the first responder family always steps in. Please keep Rip and his family in your hearts and prayers. Thank you so much for just reading Rip’s story. The doctors said that they’ve never seen a dog with this amount of injuries make it. He’s a survivor. <3
UPDATE I wanted to thank everyone for their kindness and donations. I wanted to keep you all updated on Rip. As of 07/04/24, his mom sent this “ Rip remains in the animal ICU this morning. He went back to the OR last night to have all the necrotic tissues cleaned out. He is showing signs of sepsis but is on some strong IV antibiotics. Right now it’s just wait and see. Please keep him in prayers ♥️“
Thank you is not enough, but thank you all from the bottom of our hearts!
