Hi, my name is Neha Grote and I’m setting this up for my sister, Rina Gettinger and her family.
Rina is a wife, a mom to three boys, and a professional photographer who has always worked incredibly hard to support her family.
At the end of November, Rina developed a cough. During one of those coughing episodes, she felt a sudden “snap” followed by immediate and intense pain.
What initially seemed like something that might pass quickly turned into a medical emergency.
She was hospitalized for five days, where she underwent extensive testing, imaging, and multiple MRIs. The results were overwhelming. Doctors found significant inflammation, joint degeneration, a fracture, and a tear in her hip, along with other serious findings that explained the level of pain she was experiencing.
She was also diagnosed with a chronic inflammatory condition that will require ongoing care, monitoring, medications, supplements and physical therapy. At this point, there is no clear timeline for healing, and much is still uncertain with quality of life and simple movement.
Beyond the physical pain, this has taken an enormous emotional toll on Rina. She has gone from being an active, working mother to someone struggling daily with pain, exhaustion, and the fear of not knowing what her body will be able to do tomorrow. Losing the ability to work and the identity and purpose that came with her photography business has been heartbreaking for her.
Rina wants nothing more than to be present for her boys, to care for them the way she always has, but simple tasks are painful and nearly impossible.
Since her diagnosis, Family has been there around the clock to care for her, however, we are exploring options to hopefully find some in-home care assistance.
Because she is unable to work, their family has lost that source of income and now relying solely on her husband’s income. Medical expenses continue to grow. Many of the treatments, supplements, and physical therapy recommended by her doctors are not fully covered by insurance.
They are now facing the very real possibility of losing their home.
Rina and her husband are doing everything they can to stay strong for their three boys, but the stress, uncertainty, and emotional weight of this disease has been overwhelming.
We are asking for help to cover:
• Medical bills and ongoing care
• Physical therapy and recovery-related expenses
• Basic living expenses
If you know Rina, you know how difficult it is for her to accept help. Asking for support during this time has been incredibly hard for her and her family.
Any amount whether through a donation, sharing this page, or keeping them in your thoughts and prayers means more than we can express. Thank you for helping my sister and her family as they navigate through this horrible disease attacking her body.
