Hello everyone!

My name is Riley Watts, and I am a Junior at Evanston Township High School. I am thankful to have been given the opportunity to study abroad in Spain for four weeks and have been given a scholarship of $1,850 from CIEE. This trip to study abroad would mean so much to me. I am in AP Spanish Literature Language 1 which is something I have been working towards since the beginning of my high school journey. I have always loved the Spanish language, and every Spanish teacher I have had has told me my Spanish is very good. Studying abroad would give me the opportunity to interact with locals in Spanish which will help me improve my Spanish skills and help me expand my vocabulary.

The cost will cover my interactive Spanish classes in Spain from all native speakers, all cultural activities and excursions, and my housing. I will be staying in a homestay with a local family who will provide me with breakfast and dinner. The lunch will be provided by the Ciee global navigators. Flight costs aren’t included with the program costs, so that’s extra money needed for the trip. Also, since I would like to fly with a chaperone the prices are much higher. Studying abroad in Spain for Spanish will be a life changing experience. It will make me appreciate the Spanish language and the culture of the Spaniards even more. I will be speaking Spanish throughout the whole trip, whether it’s with my host family or with the other students or even the Spanish instructors while I am there. I will also get to see the different accents and vocabulary within the Spanish language. I will get to see the place where Spanish came from and compare it to the other Spanish speaking countries that I have been to. This experience will help me meet new people from Spain and other parts of the United States. Studying abroad in Spain will look great on my resume when it comes time to apply for college.

The remaining balance will be $4,550. Although my parents will be assisting with the payments of this program, I wanted to take the initiative to try and raise the money for this as well. Any donations will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
