Support Riley and Marie's Recovery Journey

Dear Friends and Family,

My name is Kelly Johnson, and I am reaching out alongside Stacey Lemmons and Heather Haynes.

We are heartbroken to share that Riley and Marie McFarland were involved in a devastating crash in Decker Canyon, just outside of Fillmore, Utah, on Friday morning. They were on their way to a barrel race in Cedar City, traveling with their horses, when the weather took a turn for the worse and it started snowing.

As they approached the canyon in Fillmore, a semi-truck jackknifed in front of them, causing other vehicles to slam on their brakes. In an effort to avoid the chaos, Riley moved to the slow lane, but a truck towing a trailer suddenly cut in front of them. To prevent a collision, he swerved, but unfortunately, a semi that was parked in the lane appeared just as they moved over, and they collided with it.

Riley has already undergone several surgeries due to severe injuries, including a lacerated kidney, damage to three vertebrae in his back, and multiple broken ribs on both sides. His left rib cage was crushed, necessitating a second surgery to stabilize it. Tragically, his spleen had to be removed due to extensive damage and internal bleeding, and he also suffered a broken sternum, requiring the replacement of several ribs. Currently, Riley is hospitalized a couple of hours away from their home, making it difficult for family and friends to visit.

Marie, too, is facing her own recovery journey. She underwent surgery for injuries to her foot, as well as treatment for lacerations and a concussion. Additionally, their horses were injured in the accident and are currently receiving treatment at a veterinary clinic.

As they navigate this difficult time, they will be out of work and facing significant medical expenses. We are asking for your support to help cover these costs so they can focus on healing without the added stress of financial burdens.
