Stranded in Israel: Bring Rilee Home to US Soil
Hello - my name is Laura Schilling and I am the mother of Rilee Schilling. Rilee is a US citizen. Rilee just graduated from college with a major in English and a minor in Communication. She is looking to apply for a position at the US Embassy in Israel or the Israeli Embassy in DC. She loves the Israeli people, so to enrich her knowledge of the culture, she applied for a scholarship with a non-profit called Behold Israel to attend a young adult Bible tour in Israel, where she was awarded a partial scholarship to attend the tour.
She landed in Tel Aviv on June 11, 2025, and on June 12, 2025, Israel declared war on Iran. For seven days now, Rilee has been in a war zone; shrapnel has landed in the pool at the hotel where she has stayed, and she is constantly having to run to the shelter. Rilee has become ill while there, so among the need to run to the bunker when missile alerts ring on her phone, she is very weak physically. We were able to get a doctor to come to the hotel and begin antibiotics on June 15, 2025, but Rilee is still very weak. We were able to get her across the Sheikh Hussein Jordan Border crossing to Amman on June 15, 2025. Because of the continued airstrikes from Iran, flying out of Amman is much too dangerous. So we are looking into a boat charter, but due to the demand, it is costly. We need to get Rilee back on US soil as soon as possible. I have sent a letter to President Trump, but that could take some time for him to see; the White House switchboard told me up to 6-8 weeks. We are in desperate need of financial assistance, so whatever you can offer, we are most grateful.
