Support Rikki & His Family as He Knocks-Out Cancer

Rikki’s journey began in April, 2017, when he was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. This must have been quite a shock to the young father of two toddlers, and his wife, Susie. He immediately began fighting to heal his body only to find himself hospitalized in December, 2017, with fluid on top of his lungs and around his heart. After several hospitalizations and emergency procedures, he would soon be sent home to continue chemotherapy along with consulting a Naturopath to maintain diet and lifestyle changes.
Through the months of chemotherapy, blood transfusions, and multiple tests, Rikki and Susie remained positive, tried to keep up with their young children and were thankful for all the love, support and prayers they received from family and friends. In July, 2018, they received the news they were praying for; Rikki was in remission and feeling very good!
Just a few months later, in February, 2019, they found themselves facing Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, yet again. This time, Rikki would receive a different kind of chemo to put him in remission in order to undergo a stem cell transplant. After the chemo, he would be hospitalized during which time he would receive a high-dose BEAM chemotherapy for 6 days and then on day 7 would receive his previously retrieved stem cells to help him recover. The 7-10 days after the transplant would be the worst as his counts would plummet from the chemo. Doctors anticipated he would be hospitalized for about 3 weeks.
Rikki is now on Day +11 of his stem cell transplant. He has had some very low, difficult days during which he endured bouts of intense/sharp stomach pain and was unable to keep food down. His white blood cell count began to come up slightly so he is heading in the right direction. Through it all, Rikki has remained positive, fought hard and kept his sense of humor while Susie has juggled caring for Callie (2) and Benji (5), being by Rikki’s side and trying to maintain her job. Once Rikki is home, he will still need several months or more to fully recover and will need to avoid public places/germs since he will be more vulnerable to infection.
Although their family and friends have rallied around them, we are asking that those who can will now support them with donations. It is not in their nature to rely on others, but it has been over two years of tests, medications, hospitalizations, doctor appointments, and lost income. We are hoping to relieve some of the financial burden by coming together and helping them get through this difficult period in their lives so they can heal and spend carefree time together with their beautiful children! We have been amazed by all the things that Rikki can do from remodeling homes to making beautiful tables, gorgeous barn doors, or a custom spice rack for Susie. There doesn’t seem to be anything that he can’t do, so we know he’s got this! #Rikkicandothistoo
Please continue to send your prayers, love and positive energy as it truly brightens their days! We thank you in advance for your help and kindness.
