Rikki Needs Your Support After a Devastating House Fire
Donation protected
On Sunday, March 2, Rikki woke up and felt something was off. She went to check on her dog, Copper. She realized the outlets in parts of the house were not working. Her dad planned on coming out to help the next day. She went to bed and shortly after, Copper began barking. After Copper’s barking, Rikki opened the door to the upstairs of the house. At that point, she noticed the smoke. She grabbed Copper, her cat and a jacket. In an attempt to get out of the house and leave to go to safety, she realized the garage door was not working. Rikki called a family friend to come help open the garage door so she and her animals would be able to get to safety.
Over the course of the next few hours, multiple fire departments came and put out the fire in the upstairs of the house. Rikki went to stay with family that night believing she could return in the morning to clean up the damage. However, sometime after the fire departments left, the fire reignited, destroying her home.
This has been a devastating loss for Rikki. She has spent an enormous amount of her time and money on renovations to make this special place her home. And within a matter of hours, all her hard work literally went up in smoke. She lost irreplaceable personal belongings along with everything she owned, furniture, clothing, personally created artwork, and more. She must now find a way to buy or rebuild a new home for herself. While she is thankful to be alive, she is exhausted and extremely overwhelmed.
Rikki would be forever grateful for any support you are able to provide. As she begins to rebuild, we will share what we can along the way. Thank you for your support!
