Support Riggs' Journey to a Forever Home

We are in desperate need of rehoming/rehabilitating our new puppy Riggs!!

Hi!! My name is Nick and my girlfriend Makenna and I both adopted our dog Riggs a few weeks after we lost our 3 year old Great Dane Mix -(Ryder) suddenly to a very aggressive bone cancer. When we first adopted Riggs he had no signs of reactivity but he began to show more and more signs of unpredictable behavior outside of the home. Inside of the home he is the most loving and perfect dog. We have grown to love Riggs and know based on having him evaluated by a professional trainer that he is really just insecure outside of the home and gets anxious/overstimulated but is not aggressive. Unfortunately his anxiety has caused him to bite the hands of a few people and get very riled up when he's out in public. We can no longer keep him for a handful of reasons but one of them being that we know he needs proper training and we simply can't afford to give him the attention and care he needs and deserves at this time especially after the amount we spent on trying to save our previous puppy Ryder and while we're still grieving him.

Our goal is to contribute what we can afford to his board and train program that is 4 weeks long and hopefully raise the money in the mean time to pay the rest of the training so that it will be easier to safely re-home him once he has graduated from his program! We are willing to foster him and continue his training until we can find him his forever home.

If we can't provide him this board and train program we will need to give him to a shelter/rescue facility but we worry that he will be misunderstood if his behavior has changed since being with us and it may risk his chance at being adopted especially undergoing a high stress environment again and we know at this point he may unintentionally be a harm to strangers if he's over whelmed. We are hoping to raise as much as possible; the training program is $4,000 and he is set to be picked up by the trainer on Aug 11. This training has a life time insurance so that if Riggs ever needs a touch up session, the trainer will be available to give unlimited sessions to his new family at no cost. We would love to have the full amount to give to our amazing trainer (Ben Ryba with TrueK9) by this date since he has been so flexible and kind to us.

ABOUT RIGGS

Riggsy boy is 2 years old, 75lbs and we believe he is a pure Swiss shepherd. He is silly, goofy, loyal and kind. He is an extremely calm and docile dog in the home and is very low maintenance. He is potty trained/ crate trained, knows a few tricks and is a very fast learner and listener. He loves being directed as he's a "worker dog" and he hardly ever barks inside the house. He gets along with our other puppy in the home (teeter) and so badly just wants to be loved and cherished after being abandoned by his previous family where he was left outside covered in ticks. He is such an angel and I wish the timing was better for us because he is a dream dog for sure. As soon as he has the proper training he will be an incredible gift for someone.
