Update: Day 54
August 5th
We have been re admitted to the hospital again.
His first discharge lasted 5 days ending in three surgeries. This one lasted three days.
They're taking him to CT right now and consulting with our surgeon again, luckily he is in the building right now please continue to keep him in your prayers, this is such a nightmare
Update June 27.
Ricky's ventilator is OUT, that seems to be bringing with it a new set of challenges and a few new doctors being added to our ICU team. This week we are hoping for some progress with his mental health as coming off all the sedation has caused him some confusion and agitation. He is mostly responsive but it's hard to see him struggling to comprehend where he is and what has taken place. This is going to be a very long road I'm afraid, his kidneys are not responding like the doctors would like to see so they're adjusting their approach in an attempt to get them to function without assistance from daily dialysis. His pancreas is still inflamed and his BP is not staying stable on its own like it was a few days back.
He is very weak after this 15 days (and counting) in the hospital bed. It is looking like he could need some physical rehabilitation after our hospital stay.
Please keep sharing the gofundme, our short term disability could likely take weeks to kick in and we are still working on getting his last few checks to be deposited for a little relief financially.
I appreciate all of you so much
Thank you for your continued prayers. Shares and support ❤️
Update June 19th.
Thank you all so much for your prayers, messages and especially your generosity. We are not out of the woods yet but I am trying to stay focused on the small victories. I know Ricky's going to be so appreciative of all the support he's getting. I can't wait to show him ❤️
On June 12, Ricky (Mayhem) Taylor’s 40th birthday, our lives changed in an instant. Ricky woke up with severe abdominal pain, and we rushed to the emergency room. He was diagnosed with pancreatitis, which quickly became life-threatening. By the next day, his kidneys and liver were starting to shut down, and his lungs were surrounded by fluid due to the intense inflammation. Early Sunday morning, we made the difficult decision to put Ricky on full life support and sedation, hoping his body would have a chance to recover. He was transferred to a level one facility better equipped to handle his critical condition. This sudden escalation has been overwhelming for our family, and I’m reaching out for help as we navigate this crisis.
Ricky is the heart of our family and the main provider for our household. He’s known for his compassion—always ready to help someone in need, whether it’s feeding the hungry, giving to IBEW brotherhood collections, or simply offering kindness to strangers. He loves to sing, play guitar, and spend time with loved ones. Recently, he’s become quite the dog trainer to our mastiff puppy, Silas. With Ricky in the hospital, our daily routines have been upended. I’ve been at his bedside as much as possible, only leaving to rest briefly at home. My dad has been caring for Silas, and Ricky’s mom and brother have come to support us during this difficult time.
The funds raised will go directly toward Ricky’s immediate medical expenses, household bills, and may allow me to reduce my work schedule so I can continue to be present for him in the ICU. Any support, whether through donations, prayers, or sharing our story, means the world to us. Thank you for standing with us as we fight for Ricky’s recovery.
