Rickie Ryan was recently diagnosed with choroidal melanoma, a form of Eye Cancer, an unexpected and frightening battle that no one is ever prepared for. While facing the emotional weight of this diagnosis, Rickie is also dealing with an overwhelming financial burden. The treatment she needs is being denied by insurance because of the specialized nature of the surgery. An agency is currently working on Rickie’s behalf to fight with the insurance company, however the outcome is undetermined. Rickie may be left paying 100% out of pocket for medical care, surgeries, and ongoing treatment.
Rickie has dedicated her life to caring for others. She recently completed her Master’s degree in Social Work and now serves in the Cherry Creek School District, providing critical support, compassion, and stability to children, many of whom come from under-resourced backgrounds and rely on her guidance. She is a fierce social justice advocate, a bright light to her colleagues, and a safe place for the students she impacts every day.
Anyone who knows Rickie knows her heart is enormous. She is deeply loving, endlessly compassionate, and genuinely one of a kind. She’s the person who shows up for everyone else. And now, she needs her community to show up for her.
This diagnosis has brought very sudden and demanding medical costs. Every donation, no matter the amount, will directly help cover:
• Out-of-pocket cancer treatments
• Specialized ocular surgeries
• Follow-up appointments and ongoing care
• Time away from work during recovery
If you can’t donate, sharing this page is an incredible help.
Let’s lift Rickie up with the same energy, kindness, and laughter she brings into the world. (And yes...she did win “Best Laugh” in high school.)
Thank you for standing with Rickie during this difficult time. Your support truly means the world.
