Hi, my name is Robin Norris. I am the "unofficial" spokesperson for the GLD bracket program ... the program director. HA! But seriously, my sons, Mike, Andy & Pete Sarauer, good friends with Amanda & Rick Sorensen. Rick became ill Saturday evening... my thought was to reach out to you good people and ask for help. They have 3 boys together. 2 still living at home. I will copy and paste Amanda's story she posted this morning on FB. The Sorensen's are gonna need HELP ... A LOT OF HELP! Let me copy/post her story and let you all take it from there. Please give! Rick has a lot of people that depend on him...
PLEASE GIVE. AMANDA PLEASE DON'T BE MAD AT ME... I TOLD ANDY I WAS JUST GONNA DO THIS AND ASK FOR FORGIVENESS LATER... OUR LOVE TO YOU ALL, PRAYERS WILL CONTINUE
Saturday May 10th around 930 pm Rick was rushed to St Cats due to collapsing at home after a day at the track. Once he arrived at the hospital it was quickly determined that he had an aortic dissection that needed emergency surgery. He was then flown flight for life to froedtert in Milwaukee. He went through a 9 hour surgery to repair the valve and all the parts around it. His heart is good and strong. We all went home that night thinking we would hear his dad jokes and smart ass comments the next morning. Unfortunately, as soon as we arrived Monday morning, we learned he had a massive stroke on the right side of his brain earlier that morning. He ended going back into emergency surgery to remove a piece of his brain to help with the swelling. They were not optimistic all at with him going into the surgery. They made it very clear the chance of surviving the surgery was slim. Thankfully he pulled through after a quick surgery. The relief didn’t last long as he ended up having to go back in to the OR to reopen the chest due to excessive bleeding. They also found a blood clot in his left leg. He made it through another long surgery. They are unsure at this time how much damage the stroke caused but warned us he could be paralyzed on his left side. The rest of the day and night yesterday went as well as it could. His vitals have been stable. They did a follow up CT and they are happy with how things are going. They took away a few of the sedation meds and he is down to just one. The removed the drain tube from his brain and moved his feeding tube to his nose. The doctor said the roller coaster will probably continue but as of right now they are happy with his progress. He said at this time it is up to Rick to lead the way to his recovery. Please keep all the prayers and love coming his way. He is currently at Froedtert in Milwaukee in the CV- ICU. They do not allow any flowers or really anything living (like goldfish!). We are all trying our best to keep up with all the messages and calls but we are all understandably mentally and emotionally exhausted. We appreciate each and every one of you for keeping our family in your thoughts and prayers.
